WHAT IS AN EDUCATION FOUNDATION?
An education foundation can serve many purposes, but the general intent is to provide funding for activities that are beyond the scope of traditionally supported school district activities. A community based committee solicits donations, manages those funds and disburses them, usually through a granting process. It is A non-profit organization that is a separate entity from the school district it serves.
Each Hancock County public school system is fortunate to be served by an Education Foundation.
Eastern Hancock Education Foundation
Greenfield Central School Foundation
Mt. Vernon Education Foundation
Southern Hancock Education Foundation
The Community Foundation believes that one of the most strategic ways we can serve our community is to help the four school foundations strengthen their funding bases–so that through grantmaking, they can strengthen the educational endeavors of Hancock County’s public school corporations. You can help by making a gift to their operating endowment fund!
Why support your school foundation’s Operating Endowment Fund?
- An operating endowment is established to benefit a specific organization.
- Because the principal of an operating endowment remains untouched for all time, the fund provides an ongoing stream of revenue.
- Operating endowments help support an organization’s day-to-day operations and services.
