Community Foundation of Hancock County Policy states:
1. Selection committee members must affirm that they do not have a conflict of interest regarding any of the candidates in the application pool.
2. Any member of a selection committee must disclose any familial or other close relationship (including but not limited to relation by blood or marriage, close family friendship, business ties with family, etc.) with an applicant and must recuse themselves from discussion and voting on the scholarships for which those applicants applied.
3. Board members, Non-Board Community Volunteers and outside selection committee members who have children or grandchildren of age to graduate from high school must recuse themselves from serving on any CFHC Scholarship Selection Committee. The recusal period will be the school year in which the related student will graduate from a high school for which CFHC provides scholarships. If Board members, Non-Board Community Volunteers and outside selection committee members have college age children or grandchildren who intend to apply for an CFHC scholarship, they must recuse themselves from serving on any CFHC Scholarship Selection Committee for the year in which the student intends to apply. Board members, Non-Board Community Volunteers and outside selection committee members who fail to recuse themselves from any scholarship selection committee during the recusal period forfeit their child/grandchild’s right to apply for CFHC scholarships.
