Founded by the dedicated members of Psi Iota Xi in honor of the organization’s 100th anniversary, this permanent fund plays a pivotal role in the long-term strategy of the Upsilon Chapter.
Psi Iota Xi is a philanthropic women’s sorority with charitable focuses in speech and hearing and art, literature, and music. The Upsilon chapter is located in Greenfield and also serves eastern and southern Hancock County.
Annually, the Upsilon chapter funds a speech and hearing clinic open to any child in Hancock County in need of extra therapy. In 2022-2023 the chapter will begin funding two speech and hearing clinics per year. The goal is for the endowment to endowment fund to permanently support the cost of the clinics. The organization also funds awards for young artists through the Riley Festival, helps cover the cost of hearing aids for two children that attend Eastern Hancock schools, purchased iPads for speech and hearing clinicians at Greenfield-Central and Eastern Hancock schools, and provides a college scholarship to a student pursuing post-secondary education in speech/hearing or the arts. The chapter also provides funding to elementary schools located in Greenfield-Central, Eastern Hancock, New Palestine, Zion Lutheran, and St. Michael to purchase books for their libraries.
The year 2020 marked the chapter’s 100-year anniversary in Greenfield. Our group is thriving and continues to further charitable enterprises.
