The Community Foundation is your local philanthropic partner. We are designed to receive and professionally administer gifts from individuals, families, and organizations so they may create an endowment fund or grow one of our many existing endowment funds.
Endowment funds can provide grants for scholarships, charitable organizations, community enrichment, and other worthy causes. All have the purpose of enabling others to build and improve the quality of life forever.
Endowment is the cornerstone of our work. When you donate through the Community Foundation, your gift is invested with the assets of more than 300 other charitable funds stewarded and administered by our organization. As a result, your gift benefits from the maximum earning power and minimum fee impact of a large pool of charitable funds…and so do the causes you care about

Planning Your Future Gift
The simplest and most common way to leave your legacy is to designate a gift or percent of your estate to set up or give to an existing endowment fund; in some cases, you may receive a substantial reduction in federal gift and estate taxes while supporting a charitable cause. Include a simple statement in your will such as:
I give [a specific $ sum] or [percentage of my estate] or [number of shares of stock of X Company] to the ________ _____________Fund, a component fund of the Community Foundation of Hancock County, 971 W. US 40, Greenfield, Indiana.
Optional, additional language: The Community Foundation of Hancock County, Inc. is an Indiana nonprofit corporation exempt from federal income taxes under Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3), a public charity and accordingly an appropriate institution within which to establish a charitable fund.

A select group of volunteers who represent the most accomplished
professional advisors in the community from the practice of estate planning, accounting, investment, insurance, and financial services.
This committee counsels the Community Foundation as we establish, develop, and maintain strong working relationships with members of the Hancock County advisor community. The committee provides its members opportunities to exchange charitable giving ideas, learn about new issues in philanthropy, and establish new relationships with other advisors. This council broadens the professional advisors’ ability to talk to their clients about charitable giving as they work with them to achieve their overall financial goals.

If you have started a fund with the Community Foundation, you have access to our fund portal. This portal is a secure password-protected website allowing you to view fund balances, donor history, grant history, fund statements, and more. If you have a donor-advised fund, you can submit your grant requests electronically. You can access the portal here.
