The Hancock County Community Foundation and the Rotary Club of Greenfield recently awarded Hancock County Senior Services a $2,000 grant. HCCF matched dollar for dollar the money raised by the Rotary Club of Greenfield at their Steak‘n Bake’n Raffle last fall. The Hancock County Senior Service Inc. is a community based not-for-profit agency committed to providing comprehensive support services to older and disabled county residents, to assist them to maintain the greatest possible independence to prevent premature institutionalization. Additionally, public transportation is available to residents regardless of age. The agency promotes community awareness of issues, challenges and solutions.
The grant dollars awarded to the Hancock County Senior Service Inc. will fund programs that support senior citizens within the community. Thousands of hours of service have been provided to seniors and those with disabilities. These services increase the independence of these individuals as well as strengthen the families that support them. In the case of individuals who have no family support system, Hancock County Senior Services Inc. is somethimes the only connection they have beyond medical care. This program is essential for Hancock County and its citizens.
HCCF works with caring individuals, families, and organizations to create or grow existing permanent funds called endowments. These funds generate income that is distributed in the form of grants and scholarships to enrich and enhance life in Hancock County, as well as support the donor’s favorite charitable causes, both at home and afar forever. HCCF has granted over $8.7 million since its inception in 1992.
