The Hancock County Community Foundation and the Rotary Club of Greenfield recently awarded Love INC a $2,000 grant. HCCF matched dollar for dollar the money raised by the Rotary Club of Greenfield at their Steak‘n Bake’n Raffle last fall. The mission of Love INC (In the Name of Christ) is to mobilize local churches to transform lives and communities In the Name of Christ. Love INC acts as a clearinghouse or referral service where staff and volunteers screen requests for help as to their nature. Screened requests are referred to a collaborating network of local churches, community service agencies, and volunteers that provide the necessary help for the disadvantaged.
The grant dollars awarded to the Love INC will fund programming that has helped bring the community together. One-thousand two-hundred twenty-seven (1,227) requests for assistance were received through the clearinghouse in 2012. Local churches met the needs of 929 family requests. An additional 599 requests were referred to community agencies, all within Hancock County. By leveraging the integration of the diverse talents and ministries of Hancock County churches, Love INC is in an ideal position to initiate programs, such as GAP ministries and the relational program, Hearts of Hope, that deal with complex social issues. Programs like Love INC are essential to the growth and betterment of Hancock County.
HCCF works with caring individuals, families, and organizations to create or grow existing permanent funds called endowments. These funds generate income that is distributed in the form of grants and scholarships to enrich and enhance life in Hancock County, as well as support the donor’s favorite charitable causes, both at home and afar forever. HCCF has granted over $8.7 million since its inception in 1992.
