The Hancock County Community Foundation and the Rotary Club of Greenfield recently awarded Hancock County Food Pantry a $1,500 grant. HCCF matched dollar for dollar the money raised by the Rotary Club of Greenfield at their Steak‘n Bake’n Raffle last fall. The Hancock County Food Pantry’s mission is to secure and distribute food to the needy in an effort to alleviate hunger in Hancock County. They secure food and non-food essentials (toilet paper, soap, toothpaste, laundry detergent, etc.) through donations from individuals, churches, businesses, and organizations within and outside our community and county.
The grant dollars awarded to the Hancock County Food Pantry will help fund and sustain the community food pantry for those that depend on it. During five (5) weekly open hours, the Pantry serves residents of Hancock County who meet government minimum income guidelines. In their monthly visit to the Food Pantry, they receive enough food for 7-10 days; enough to tide them over until their next month’s check or SNAP vouchers. Without grant dollars and support from the community the Hancock County Food Pantry would not exist and could not fulfill their service to those in need.
HCCF works with caring individuals, families, and organizations to create or grow existing permanent funds called endowments. These funds generate income that is distributed in the form of grants and scholarships to enrich and enhance life in Hancock County, as well as support the donor’s favorite charitable causes, both at home and afar forever. HCCF has granted over $8.7 million since its inception in 1992.
