The Hancock County Community Foundation awarded a $576 mini-grant from the Enrichment Fund to the Fortville Lions Club this fall. The grant funded a project that provided all third grade students in the Mt. Vernon School Corporation, totaling about 267 students, with a personal dictionary to use both at home and at school for studies. Students will be able to keep the dictionaries for their own use. The Fortville Lions Club has a current membership of 21 men and women, and the club encompasses the areas of Fortville and McCordsville, primarily serving the needs of residents of all ages in the area of the Mt. Vernon School Corporation boundaries.
The Hancock County Enrichment Fund is a member of the Spirit of Community Funds family at HCCF. Created by the Community Foundation, it is a permanent, comprehensive fund that addresses a broad range of needs, including future needs that often cannot be anticipated at the time a gift is made. This fund provided the matching grant dollars for the recent community event, Match Day, providing a proportionate match to every dollar raised for participating nonprofits.
